Background Information

Before joining Price Benowitz, LLP to launch and manage their D.C. family law practice, Jeannine Gomez was a staff and then senior staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of D.C. in their Domestic Violence and Family Law Unit for over eight years where she represented or advised over a thousand clients in family law matters. Jeannine has handled complex civil protection order cases often involving trailing criminal prosecutions against the abuser and occasionally against the survivor who fought back. Jeannine has also handled complex custody cases involving physical and sexual child abuse, expert witnesses, guardians ad litem, and child witnesses. While the majority of her experience is in family law litigation, Jeannine has also successfully defended two clients in civil protection order and custody cases, respectively, in the D.C. Court of Appeals.

At Legal Aid and previously at Ayuda, from 2009 to 2011, Jeannine used her fluency in Spanish and French to represent immigrant clients from Central and South America and Africa in asylum, special immigrant juvenile status, VAWA, and U-visa cases.

Immediately after law school, Jeannine served as a law clerk in the Family Court of the District of Columbia Superior Court for Judge J. Michael Ryan, on the domestic relations and juvenile calendars, and for Magistrate Judges Mary Grace Rook and Janet Albert, on abuse and neglect calendars.
